Committee

The committee is responsible for the running and organisation of the society.

How Committee Works

The committee is made up of elected society members. These are voted on in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by members of the society. Any member can run for positions.

The running of the society follows the StageSoc Constitution, for which the current and previous versions can be found here

Committee Meetings

The committee holds meetings to discuss the running of the society, shows that are currently running or are being planned, and other issues. All members can attend meetings, and committee members must attend unless apologies have been given. During each meeting, minutes are taken by the secretary. These are available to read on the forum. Before each meeting, a meeting agenda is realeased, which details the matters arrising in the meeting

Committee Roles

Given in rank order

1. President

The president is the figurehead of StageSoc and takes overall responsibility for the actions of the society. They are responsible for any other tasks that do not come under jurisdiction of other members of the Committee. They are also on the SUSU Performing Arts Committee and attend meetings unless this role is delegated to another committee member.

2. Treasurer

The treasurer is responsible for all financial aspects of the Society, running the society current account and the maintenance fund. Any money spent by stagesoc must follow SUSU regulations and purchases over £100 must be authorised by the Committee.

3. Secretary

The secretary writes minutes of all society meetings, which can be accessed by all members on the forum. They organise scheduling of committee meetings and are responsible for all communications on behalf of stage soc.

4. Social Secretaries

There are up to 2 Social Secretaries. The social secretaries are responsible for coming up with and running social events for all members of the society

5. Training Officer

The Training officer is responsible for organising training programmes, such as basic lighting, sound and stage trainings to make sure that all members meet the minimum training requirements.

6. Annex Officer

The Annex Officer is responsible for the upkeep of the annex and the technical equiptment, such as the stores and tools owened by stagesoc, and shared resources of the Performing Arts societies stored in the Annex. They are also responsible for the safety of the equipment used, by carrying out risk assessments, testing tools (e.g. PAT testing) and inspecting the annex to ensure that it is kept in an appropriate, organised and safe state for use.

7. Webmaster

They shall be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Society website, mailing lists, Committee email accounts and other online infrastructure relating to the Society. They shall ensure that the content of these resources is kept accurate and up-to-date. They shall also do such tasks as directed by the Committee.

8. Ordinary Members

There are 2 ordinary members elected each year. The ordinary members act as welfare officers for the society, and present feedback from the society following each show. They also assist with any other tasks not explicitly covered by other position including taking the minutes when the Secretary is unavailable. They arrange the ordering of society clothing.

9. Publicity Officer

The publicity officer organises all publicity and promotional material, including the stage soc social media accounts.
